About Our Firm

The firm was founded in 1979 as a professional partnership and later incorporated as an Illinois professional corporation. It now has offices in Scottsdale, Arizona and Naperville, Illinois. The firm has a never-ending commitment to provide superior service and to take the time to fully understand the specific needs and goals of each client. Unlike larger, less flexible firms, the Law Offices of Robert D. Gillen, Ltd. is able to quickly and professionally respond to each client with personalized one-on-one service with the attorney who will be handling your legal matter from start to finish.

This type of exceptional service is the standard that other firms strive to obtain. It is not uncommon that the firm represents two or three generations of the same family as each generation comes to expect the same straightforward advice and solutions to their asset protection, estate and business planning needs.

Along with serving our clients, our firm also has a commitment to serving the charitable needs of the community and encourages active involvement with worthwhile organizations.

The principal of the firm, Robert D. Gillen, or, more familiarly, Bob, is a highly sought-after national and international speaker, instructor and presenter on asset protection planning and estate and gift tax matters. In addition to maintaining two law offices, Bob still manages to lecture or teach about once a month and to serve on several charitable boards.

One of the boards is Naperville Rotary Charities, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charity which he created in 1992 and has been chairman of the Board of Directors since its inception. This charity now has a multi-million dollar balance to assist with domestic and international charitable work. Bob also sits on the Board of Directors of an Arizona-based charity that is instrumental in bringing classical music to students and seniors, sponsoring performers from around the world. Bob allocates some of his professional time to help others who are not quite as fortunate and to assist them with their estate planning needs. He sometimes marvels on how these families truly appreciate his legal advice which would otherwise have been outside of their reach.
